Currently, the FCMRS occupies a 750 sq. ft. rented space in a secured storage facility located in Jacksonville, FL. near the intersection of the east side of I-295 and Monument Road. We are building a double-deck layout with a two connecting helices. Email fcmrs46@gmail.com for more information.
We are model railroaders having fun building and operating model trains. In addition to building a new HO-scale layout, our members are active in many aspects of the hobby including having a very active round-robin HO-scale model railroad group in member's homes, and our traveling ON30-scale portable module layout.
We can be found five times a year at the Golden Spike Enterprises train shows at the Volusia County Fairgrounds (Deland) and at the Jacksonville show (check the Golden Spike Enterprises website for the schedules). We are also active with the NMRA's Sunshine Region - Northern Division events.
If you share our enjoyment with model trains, please consider joining us.
We are currently constructing a large, two level layout in a storage unit in North-East Jacksonville. We have work nights every Monday and Thursday from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and operating sessions on Sunday afternoons from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
There are two helixes that allow trains to move between the upper and lower levels, plus two return loops on the lower level to allow for continuous operation. Digitrax DCC is used to control the system, and we have wifi access for smartphone based throttle programs.
Our modular ON30 layout has been built up over a number of years, and we exhibit it at Train shows around Florida. We have had our portable railroad on display at one National Narrow Gauge Railroaders Convention and two National Train Shows. We received the “Judge’s” award for creativity at the 2017 Orlando Show.
